Face Paint
In Chapter 4, Jack conceals his face with paint; one eyelid and cheek white, the other half red, and a black sash coming across his face. Literally, he does this to hide himself from the pigs so they don't see him and run away while he is hunting them. He liked how the paint turned out the second time since the first mask wasn't evil enough. Figuratively, this mask of paint transforms him into a savage. Hunters and warriors use paint like this also for camouflage and they aren't considered the most civilized people. The paint caused Jack "... to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling." He takes this as a step farther of his obsession with hunting and becoming the hero for bringing them meat. His identity willingly changes to fit the costume. He was rude and a bossy leader at the beginning but now is the complete savage.
